DI18 is calculated by dividing the quantity of oleic acid (18:1 MUFA) by that of stearic acid (18:0 saturated). DI16 is calculated by dividing palmitoleic (16:1 MUFA) acid by palmitic acid (16:0 saturated). DI1600 is the DI16 multiplied by 100. This gives a more “human friendly” result in most cases.
DI varies a lot between tissues and species, so the DI from the OmegaQuant test – which shows the DI of membrane phospholipids – cannot be compared to the DI of stored fat tissue.
